Update1

For the people of Nepal, flowers are a precious offering to the gods. Every morning, in temples across Kathmandu, people present flowers and pray for peace. Sushama, like many others, had long offered flowers with heartfelt devotion. But one day, she witnessed something truly shocking. The flowers that had been lovingly offered by so many were now rotting away as foul-smelling trash.

“When I first visited Pashupatinath, one of Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temples, I saw baskets full of flowers being thrown into the river after the rituals. Seeing the wilted flowers rot and insects flying around broke my heart. In that moment, I thought, ‘Couldn’t we bring new life to these flowers?’

Sushama started a project called Phool Prasad to breathe new life into discarded flowers. She collects the leftover flowers from religious rituals, dries them, and uses only natural ingredients like Himalayan herbs and essential oils. In this way, the discarded flowers are reborn as high-quality fragrance.

“We’re not just reducing waste. We’re bringing back the care and devotion once offered to the gods through these flowers. When the discarded flowers are reborn as fragrance and bring calm to another space, I feel that someone’s heartfelt offering is being passed on to someone else.

Phool Prasad is more than just a place that makes fragrance. It’s where many women get their first chance to work. So far, over 250 women have received training, and some have been hired as full-time employees, gaining financial independence. Women who had been excluded from work due to domestic violence, disability, or lack of education are now starting a new chapter with Phool Prasad.

Phool Prasad plans to partner with more temples to collect more discarded flowers and create more jobs for women. This crowdfunding will help hire new staff and improve the transportation system. Your donation will help revive more flowers and support more women on their path to economic independence. Join Phool Prasad’s fragrant journey and help Nepali women build their lives with their own hands through impact Donation.
