T.M.G. Agro Farm: A Glass of Juice Saving Nepal’s Farmland

The Reality of Nepal: A Country Where 1,000 People Leave Every Day

“There are so many opportunities in Nepal. However, many people leave their hometowns in search of a better life before they even discover that potential.”

Nepal is a country blessed with fertile soil and abundant natural resources. However, due to a lack of modern agricultural technology, equipment, and stable infrastructure for processing and distribution, farming often fails to create sufficient value. As a result, many farmers are forced to rely on middlemen without receiving a fair price, and harvested fruits and produce are frequently discarded because they cannot be sold properly.

Unemployment and income instability have led directly to a population exodus. According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), approximately 1,700 people migrate abroad from Nepal every day. As the younger generation leaves rural areas, once-fertile farmlands are being neglected and turning into wasteland. This leads to a decline in agricultural production and local economic stagnation, threatening the sustainable future of rural Nepal.

The Challenge of Janak, a Returning Farmer

Amidst this reality, Janak Tamang set out to find a way for Nepalese agriculture to grow once again. A few years ago, he worked in the agricultural sector in South Korea for five years through the Employment Permit System (EPS) program, where he witnessed advanced farming techniques and systematic distribution processes firsthand.

The experience that stayed with him most deeply was the fresh seasonal fruit juice the farm owner shared during breaks. It wasn't just a delicious drink; it was a scene that showed the possibility that agriculture can be fully competitive when good produce meets processing and distribution. At that moment, he thought, “Wouldn't this be possible in our Nepal, too?” With a desire to apply his experience from Korea to his homeland, he returned to Nepal and started a papaya farm and fruit juice processing business. His papaya cultivation is now in its fourth year, and the juice processing center has been operating for six months.

His business, T.M.G. Agro Farm, is expanding papaya cultivation by providing technical support and education to small-scale farmers. Based on the branded juice processing center, he is stably connecting farmers to market outlets and converting neglected, idle farmland back into productive land. In particular, since papaya can be grown year-round throughout Nepal and provides a fast turnover of income, it is becoming a practical alternative for the continuous growth of rural areas.

Planting Hope in Abandoned Land, Creating Change with Healthy Juice

T.M.G. Agro Farm collects papayas and other fruits grown by farmers across Nepal and adds value through branding, processing, and marketing. By branding and processing locally grown fruits and supplying them consistently to the domestic market, the farm helps mitigate rural population outflow and protect the sustainability of local agriculture. Through juice made from fruit produced on Nepalese soil, the farm is also contributing to national economic growth.

Furthermore, they are actively promoting natural papaya juice as a healthy alternative to caffeine and high-sugar carbonated drinks. By producing fresh papaya and fruit juices, T.M.G. Agro Farm spreads healthier eating habits and creates positive changes in improving public health.

One Village Changing the Future of Nepal

T.M.G. Agro Farm works with farmers across Nepal through the ‘One Village, One Farmer Group’ initiative. By providing modern agricultural education and processing technology programs, they help small-scale farmers participate stably in papaya cultivation and generate income.

This project creates sustainable jobs and income opportunities in rural areas. As a result, people can establish a foundation to dream and live in the villages where they grew up, without having to leave for cities or go abroad. Nepal is a country with immense potential to grow through agriculture. However, many opportunities are not yet fully realized due to a lack of technical knowledge and practical education.

With your impact donation, T.M.G. Agro Farm aims to build a production base that can stably supply clean, high-quality natural fruit juice throughout Nepal. Furthermore, it intends to share new possibilities and inspiration so it can become a model for more farmers to grow into commercial agricultural entrepreneurs.
